Synopsis : Stirring Odissi is a celebration of the many different creative and intellectual expressions of Odissi.
Bringing together musicians, visual artists, scholars and enthusiasts from across the globe, over three weeks, at four different venues, the festival will showcase the grace, energy and artistry of some of the world?s most accomplished and renowned Odissi dancers.
Stirring Odissi 2008 will be the most extensive Odissi exposition ever held in Malaysia. Apart from the dance performances to be staged at Amphi-Sutra, the Malaysian Tourism Centre and the KL Performing Arts Centre, an exhibition of fine art and photography inspired by Odissi will be held at the Petronas Gallery.
Lectures, dance demonstrations and a two-day seminar are among the activities designed to encourage a lively dialogue on the ways this dynamic Indian classical dance style is moving in the 21st century
