Seated in his cosy studio, tucked among the many shoplots in Brickfields, you wouldn’t think the unassuming R. Lawrence was an award-winning music composer. Even if he’s always humming a tune.
His Wavsite Sound Studio is small and simple, with computer and sound equipment and a small recording room.
But the 31-year-old from Sungai Buloh has a full plate before him. He is now composing two songs for the local film, Estet, under the direction of Mamat Khalid (of Kala Malam Bulan Mengambang fame). It is due to be released in 2009.
“This film has both Malay and Indian actors. I’d hate to spoil the fun but you will find an element of surprise in one of the songs,” he says with a wink.
