The People of Indian Origin inherit a culture that is rich and colourful. The Indian languages, religions, dance, music, games, architecture, food and customs differs between the various ethnic communities, but nevertheless possess a commonality. The culture of the People of Indian Origin is an amalgamation of these diverse sub-cultures and traditions spread all over the Indian civilisation and are several millennia old.
Several elements of the diverse culture of the Indians have had a profound impact across the world. Spread by ancient scholars, traders, empires, colonialists and in recent years by the PIOs, the Indian culture is celebrated in many countries globally. PIO is People of Indian Origin living outside India.
The PIO International Festival is a string of gala events to celebrate the arts and culture of the PIOs from around the world. This spectacular occurrence includes exhibition, sporting events and cultural performances by PIO communities from various countries across the globe. The events shall be held in suitable locations in Kuala Lumpur.
The three day Festival is organized by GOPIO Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur and is scheduled from Friday 20th till Sunday 22nd April 2012. It will be in conjunction with the ASEAN traditional New Year celebrations. The PIO International Festival KL 2012 will be held concurrently with the GOPIO International Convention here in Kuala Lumpur.
