Indian award for IJN chief dietitian

PUTRAJAYA: National Heart Institute (IJN) chief dietitian Mary Easaw-John (pic) has become the first Malaysian to receive a lifetime professional achievement award from the Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College in Chenai, India for her work.

The award, which she received in July, recognises the college’s former students who have become distinguished leaders of their respective field.

Easaw-John did her first degree in science, majoring in dietetics and nutrition in the college.

She recently shared her achievement withThe Star with hopes that the award would spur dietitians to work towards excellence in the field.

“I am happy to have received the award because the field of dietetics does not get such recognition very often,” said Easaw-John, who served in the field for 28 years
