Astro Vaanavil Commissioned 27 New Tamil Drama

A Benchmark Year for the Malaysian Indian Movie Industry

Kuala Lumpur, 5th Jan 2011 – Astro Vaanavil continues to demonstrate its commitment to support the development of the Malaysian Indian Movie Industry with its “Drama Producing Project 2010” for local production houses. Astro Vaanavil has allocated RM 1 350, 000 (RM50K x 27) as a fixed grant of Ringgit Malaysia Fifty Thousand each for 27 successful Production Houses.

Led by Astro Vaanavil, the Drama Producing Project aims to provide opportunities to local production companies to produce more dramas for Astro, discovering new and fresh content at the same time. This is aligned with Vaanavil’s commitment to support the development of the Malaysian Indian Movie Industry by giving local content more airtime on its platform. A total of 27 with their own titles and screenplay have produced 2 episodes of 20-25 minutes each for Astro Vaanavil.

Dr. Rajamani Chellamuthu, Director of Astro’s Content Management Group, said “Local Talent Development is always being our ultimate objective and we have conducted various project/programs to create opportunity for the local talents. We have organized singing contest, dance competition, short film competition, classical song and dance competition, workshops and seminars, music training and many more projects to highlight and bring out the hidden skills of our local talents. This is the first attempt by Astro Vaanavil venturing into Drama Production and we are proud to say that all the dramas have been produced by our local talents. Besides gave opportunity for the local producers and directors, this project also have created platform for the new actors, actress, writers, dancers and music directors I guess.”

Be sure to catch all these Dramas on Vaanavil (Channel 201) on every Saturday and Sunday @ 7pm starting from Jan 15, 2011.

    I like the the simple concept of the drama, straight forward and not boring with excellent cast and acting skills. Thats why i’d prefer to watch it than the boring mega serials.

    I was so disgusting with your drama whc titled “duplicate” . can i know what is the message of the drama..? what is culture value ? I don’t know how astro choose this drama to play for public. Astro don’t spoil your reputation yourself. So… disgusting, terrible, useless story i ever watch. the worst thing is we have to pay our money (astro bill) to watch this kind of nonsence! wasting ..m$ and time… The lady (Duplicate character) what she is trying to show? ask her to dress up decently (dressing all out… )
