The classical dance performance, Dasavataram is based on the story of the 10 incarnations of Lord Krishna
as recounted in the poem Dasavataram composed by 12th century poet, Jayadeva. The collection of
poems is known as Gita Govindam and this forms the basis for Dasavatara Ashtapadhi which envisions
the 10 avatars of Lord Krishna. This encompassing story is recounted through the Bharatanatyam
dance form and is presented by both local and internationally known dancers from India. The dance
is choreographed by award winning choreographer and dancer Gayatri Balagurunathan. The music
composition for the Swarams is produced by T.K. Padmanabhan and the Jathis is composed by K.
