2 by 2 will feature 4 contemporary dance works by 2 upcoming choreographers Chai Vivan and Fauzi Amirudin, who have just graduated from ASWARA with degrees in Dance Choreography. Two of the works will derive their inspiration from traditional dance vocabulary of the plate dance (Tari Piring from Negeri Sembilan) and Joget (inspired by chickens)! The other two dances are explorations and abstractions from various ideas such as a pack of cards.

The evening promises to push Malaysian dance explorations of contemporary dance even further, and hopes to bring in more audiences to the theatre while making dance assessable and enjoyable. 2 by 2 will be performed by the professional, multicultural and multiracial, award-winning ASWARA Dance Company and supported by Sime Darby Foundation, ASWARA, National Creative Industries Fund, National Department for Culture and Arts and kakiseni.com. Artistic direction by Joseph Gonzales.

This project aims to further improve on the concept, supporting structure and implementation tools of SFYC, and help organize science fairs primarily in Tamil Schools in Penang and thereby create a greater awareness about science and scientific method. It also aims to help motivate students with the drive for achievement in their quest for knowledge.

SFYC Penang is open to 28 Tamil Schools from Mainland and Island of Penang. Each school are expected to prepare 6 groups consisting of 5 students each, where 5 groups will participate in school level SFYC while the other group will be prepared to participate in state level SFYC.

The state level SFYC group will not compete in school level SFYC. Both the school level team and the state level team will be briefed and given guidelines to conducts the experiments. 28 schools are broken down according to zones and Organizing Committee representative is elected to be in charge of each zone.
